L2 Visa Interview Questions

1) Who can apply for L2 Visa?
Direct dependents of L1 visa holders such as Spouse & Children can apply for L2 visa.
2) What documents do I need to carry for L2 Visa interview ?
  • Online visa fee payment confirmation email or bank receipt
  • Completed and submitted DS 160 form for each dependent (including Children)
  • Copy of L1 visa holder's Petition (I129 S for L1 blanket and I797B copy for H1B)
  • Copy of L1 visa holder's visa and Passport
  • Salary Slips of L1 visa holder
  • Bank Statements of L1 visa holder
  • Dependent Letter from Company
  • Marriage Photos (at least 6 different photos)
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Child Birth Certificate (if applicable)
  • Spouse Passport
  • Child Passport
  • Child Photograph if child is below 7 years
  • If wife is working, then you need to get a letter from her company that she is going on leave for these many months and the leaves have been approved or in case she resigns the relieving letter.
3) Can I work on L2 Visa ?
A dependent spouse of L1 Visa holder having valid L2 Visa can apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD card).
4) Why are you going to the US?
Give a reason whether you would like to support your family or work etc.
5) What is your husband doing?
Be very clear about your husbands designation, roles & responsibilities.
6) Where will you stay in the US?
Stick to the petition and mention the exact address where you preferably stay in US.
7) What is your spouse's education?
Self explanatory
8) Where did your spouse graduated from?
Self explanatory
9) Do you intend to work in the US?
Yes, if you are planning to work on L2 Visa.
10) If you are not working what would you be doing during your free time?
You may talk about your hobbies or taking care of your husband & kids.
11) What is your spouse's salary?
Again stick to the petition, clearly mention about the Salary in home country / US salary.
12) Why didn't you appear for the visa interview along with your spouse? ( If applying the visa separately)
