AI Explainability Reports for Business Stakeholders

ShopMax India's LLM systems make consequential decisions - recommending products, evaluating credit applications, and flagging potentially fraudulent orders. Business stakeholders in legal, compliance, and senior management need to understand why the AI produced a specific output, even without a technical background. AI explainability reports translate model reasoning into plain-language summaries with supporting evidence, making decisions auditable and defensible.
For LLM-based decisions, explainability combines three techniques: rationale extraction (asking the LLM to explain its reasoning), counterfactual explanation (what would change if a key input were different), and key factor attribution (identifying which input fields most influenced the decision). ShopMax India generates explainability reports automatically for high-stakes decisions and stores them alongside the decision record in the audit database.
The example below generates an explainability report for a ShopMax India credit limit recommendation, combining an LLM-produced rationale with a key factor summary and a counterfactual explanation.

Store explainability reports in the same database record as the AI decision, linked by a decision ID, so auditors can retrieve both together. Generate reports automatically for all decisions above a defined impact threshold - any credit limit above Rs 50,000 or any fraud flag. Include a confidence indicator: if the LLM expressed uncertainty in its rationale, flag the decision for human review before it takes effect. Conduct quarterly audits where the legal team reviews a random sample of reports to verify quality and regulatory compliance.
