Get Package Name

Apache Commons Lang 3.0 is a java library with lot of utilities and reusable components. This requires the library commons-lang3-3.0.1.jar to be in classpath. The following example shows using ClassUtils.getPackageName() API. It returns the package name of the given class.

File Name  :
com/bethecoder/tutorials/commons_lang/tests/classes/GetPackageNameTest.java
Author  :  Sudhakar KV
Email  :  [email protected]

package com.bethecoder.tutorials.commons_lang.tests.classes;

import java.sql.ResultSet;
import java.util.List;

import org.apache.commons.lang3.ClassUtils;

public class GetPackageNameTest {

  /**
   @param args
   */
  public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println(ClassUtils.getPackageName(System.class));
    System.out.println(ClassUtils.getPackageName(List.class));
    System.out.println(ClassUtils.getPackageName(ResultSet.class));
    System.out.println(ClassUtils.getPackageName(ClassUtils.class));
  }
}

It gives the following output,
java.lang
java.util
java.sql
org.apache.commons.lang3
