Create Integer

Apache Commons Lang 3.0 is a java library with lot of utilities and reusable components. This requires the library commons-lang3-3.0.1.jar to be in classpath. The following example shows using NumberUtils.createInteger() API. It converts the string to integer by handling hex and octal notations.

File Name  :

Author  :  Sudhakar KV
Email  :  [email protected]

package com.bethecoder.tutorials.commons_lang.tests.numbers;

import org.apache.commons.lang3.math.NumberUtils;

public class CreateIntTest {

  /**
   @param args
   */
  public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println(NumberUtils.createInteger(null));
    System.out.println(NumberUtils.createInteger("0"));
    System.out.println(NumberUtils.createInteger("1234"));
    System.out.println(NumberUtils.createInteger("0x56"))//hex notation
    System.out.println(NumberUtils.createInteger("056"));  //octal notation
  }

}

It gives the following output,
null
0
1234
86
46
