 Tools and Libs > Commons Lang3 > Strings > Center

Center

Apache Commons Lang 3.0 is a java library with lot of utilities and reusable components. This requires the library commons-lang3-3.0.1.jar to be in classpath. The following example shows using StringUtils.center() API. It centers the given string by padding supplied pad string until it reaches the user specified limit.

File Name  :
com/bethecoder/tutorials/commons_lang/tests/strings/CenterTest.java
Author  :  Sudhakar KV
Email  :  [email protected]

package com.bethecoder.tutorials.commons_lang.tests.strings;

import org.apache.commons.lang3.StringUtils;

public class CenterTest {

  /**
   @param args
   */
  public static void main(String[] args) {

    System.out.println(StringUtils.center("BTC"5"*"))//(string, size, padStr)
    System.out.println(StringUtils.center("BTC"6"*"));
    System.out.println(StringUtils.center("BTC"7"*"));
    System.out.println(StringUtils.center("BTC"8"*"));
    System.out.println(StringUtils.center("BTC"9"*"));

    System.out.println(StringUtils.center("BTC"4"*"));
    System.out.println(StringUtils.center("BTC"3"*"));
    System.out.println(StringUtils.center("BTC"2"*"));
  }

}

It gives the following output,
*BTC*
*BTC**
**BTC**
**BTC***
***BTC***

BTC*
BTC
BTC
