Remove Start Ignorecase

Apache Commons Lang 3.0 is a java library with lot of utilities and reusable components. This requires the library commons-lang3-3.0.1.jar to be in classpath. The following example shows using StringUtils.removeStartIgnoreCase() API. It removes the substring from the source string if it starts with substring irrespective of the case otherwise returns the source string.

File Name  :

Author  :  Sudhakar KV
Email  :  [email protected]

package com.bethecoder.tutorials.commons_lang.tests.strings;

import org.apache.commons.lang3.StringUtils;

public class RemoveStartIgnoreTest {

  /**
   @param args
   */
  public static void main(String[] args) {

    System.out.println(StringUtils.removeStartIgnoreCase(null, "be"));
    System.out.println(StringUtils.removeStartIgnoreCase("be the coder""be "));
    System.out.println(StringUtils.removeStartIgnoreCase("be the coder""BE "));
    System.out.println(StringUtils.removeStartIgnoreCase("be the coder""the"));
  }

}

It gives the following output,

the coder
