Split Preserve Tokens

Apache Commons Lang 3.0 is a java library with lot of utilities and reusable components. This requires the library commons-lang3-3.0.1.jar to be in classpath. The following example shows using StringUtils.splitPreserveAllTokens() API. It splits the given string into array of tokens using whitespace as a separator by preserving all tokens, including empty tokens created by adjacent separators.

public class SplitPreserveTokensTest {

  /**
   @param args
   */
  public static void main(String[] args) {

    String [] tokens = StringUtils.splitPreserveAllTokens(null);
    System.out.println(Arrays.toString(tokens));

    tokens = StringUtils.splitPreserveAllTokens("");
    System.out.println(Arrays.toString(tokens));

    tokens = StringUtils.splitPreserveAllTokens("be the coder");
    System.out.println(Arrays.toString(tokens));

    tokens = StringUtils.splitPreserveAllTokens(" java ");
    System.out.println(Arrays.toString(tokens));

    tokens = StringUtils.splitPreserveAllTokens("java   tutorials");
    System.out.println(Arrays.toString(tokens));
  }

}

It gives the following output,
